If any of this is your life, we should talk.

Your "bookkeeping system" is a shoebox and three banking apps
You haven't reconciled an account in… let's not say how long
Tax season makes your stomach hurt
You mixed personal and business expenses and now you're stuck
You're thinking about selling but your books aren't ready
Your last bookkeeper ghosted you mid-quarter

You don't need to figure this out alone. Let's get you out of the chaos and into a system you can actually trust.

I run a small business and need clean books

Reconciled monthly, categorized correctly, financials you can read and lenders will trust. The basics, done right, every month.

Big-firm credentials.
Small-firm attention.

Numbers by C&O is a boutique practice — a fancy way of saying you'll always know who's working on your books. No call centers. No rotating "account managers." No bots pretending to be human.

"I'm not the cheapest. I'm not the biggest. I'm the one who actually knows your name."

I'm an Enrolled Agent — federally licensed by the U.S. Treasury. Translation: I've passed the IRS's rigorous three-part exam, I keep up with continuing education every year, and I'm cleared to prepare returns in all 50 states. The credential matters. What matters more is showing up.

Folks who stopped losing sleep over their books

"Switching to Numbers by C&O was the best business decision I made last year. My books are finally organized, my taxes were filed on time, and I actually understand my numbers now."

— Maya R., Boutique Owner · Phoenix, AZ

"When we started talking about selling, my books were a mess. Eveline cleaned up three years of mixed expenses and undocumented owner draws. Saved my deal — full stop."

— David K., Contractor · Sedona, AZ

"Most accountants disappear after April. Not these folks. Year-round support has saved me thousands and helped me actually plan instead of reacting."

— Sarah L., Marketing Consultant · Remote

The bookkeeper who's been on both sides of the table.

I'm Eveline. I run Numbers by C&O — a boutique bookkeeping and tax practice for small business owners who are tired of guessing whether their books are right.

I'm a federally licensed Enrolled Agent. I prepare returns. I keep books clean. And — because I've sat in the bookkeeper's chair during a real business sale — I know exactly what it takes to get those books ready when it's time to exit.

"I started this practice because small businesses deserve someone who knows their name, their numbers, and what they're actually trying to build."

Why bookkeeping, tax, and sale prep — all under one roof?

Because they're the same job. The cleanup work that makes monthly bookkeeping useful is the exact same cleanup work a buyer's diligence team is going to demand. Reconciled accounts. Separated personal and business expenses. Documented owner compensation. Tax returns that match the books.

Most accountants build siloed practices — bookkeeping over here, tax over there, and sale prep handled by someone else entirely (usually a CPA who's never sat through diligence). That's how clients end up with three different professionals telling them three different things, and books that fall apart the moment a buyer's accountant starts asking questions.

I built this practice differently because I sat in the bookkeeper's seat during a real business sale. I watched what buyers tear apart. I saw what kills deals. And I wrote it all down so other bookkeepers — and other business owners — never have to figure it out in real time the way I did.

That's what became the MySaleReady toolkit — the resource I wish had existed when I needed it. If you're a bookkeeper looking to add sale-prep work to your practice, those products are for you. See the toolkit →

If you're a business owner: I keep your books clean now, file your taxes correctly, and when it's time to sell, I make sure your financials hold up under scrutiny.

Two things, done really well.

No upsells. No fluff. No "package tiers" designed to confuse you. Just bookkeeping and tax — the two things every small business needs, delivered by a federally licensed Enrolled Agent who actually returns emails.

Individual + Business

Sale Preparation — for owners and bookkeepers

When a business goes to market, the books are the first thing buyers tear apart. I help owners get sale-ready — and I help other bookkeepers learn how to do the same for their own clients.

Every engagement comes with the basics done right

01

Secure document portal

Encrypted file sharing — no email attachments, no faxes, no shoeboxes. Upload from your phone or desktop, anytime.

02

Year-round access

I don't disappear after April 15. Questions in July? Email me. Decision to make in November? Let's talk it through.

03

Fixed, transparent pricing

Quoted up front based on complexity. No hourly billing surprises, no after-the-fact "extras." You know what you're paying.

04

Tax-return alignment

Your books and your tax returns will tell the same story — exactly the way the IRS, lenders, and buyers want to see them.

05

Plain-English explanations

I'll never hand you a report you can't read. Every monthly summary comes with notes that actually explain what's going on.

06

Built to scale with you

Whether you're a solo operator or growing toward an exit, the books we build today are the books a buyer will trust later.

Let's talk through what you need.

Free 30-minute discovery call. No pressure, no jargon, no high-pressure pitch. If we're a fit, great. If not, you'll leave with at least one useful piece of advice.

Your books tell a story.
Let's make it one buyers actually believe.

Buyers don't pay for what your business could be. They pay for what they can verify. That verification starts with your books — and most owners don't realize how much money is sitting in three years of clean, well-organized financials.

Whether you're selling — or helping someone who is

Sale prep work serves two very different audiences. Pick the one that's you.

For business owners

Get your books sale-ready — and learn what's coming

If you're 1–3 years out from selling, the work starts now. Together we'll build financials a buyer's diligence team can verify, and I'll walk you through exactly what's coming so nothing in the process surprises you.

  • Three years of clean, reconciled books — the way buyers want to see them
  • Personal and business expenses cleanly separated
  • Owner compensation documented and consistent
  • Add-backs identified and documented up front
  • Tax-return alignment with your books
  • Walk-through of the timeline, what buyers check first, and what kills deals
For other bookkeepers

The toolkit that didn't exist when I needed it

When the company I worked with went through a sale, there was no professional guide for bookkeepers. No checklist for due diligence. No template for the data room. I figured it out in real time — then I wrote it all down.

  • The Bookkeeper's Sale-Side Playbook — ten chapters of working process
  • Templates for SDE normalization, data room prep, and engagement scoping
  • A rebrandable Marketing Kit to attract sale-bound clients
  • 30-day social plan to position yourself in the sale-prep niche
  • The script for having the "are you thinking about selling?" conversation

Due diligence 101

What a buyer's accountant checks in the first ten minutes — and where most small businesses lose value.

01

Owner compensation

Is it market rate? Consistent? Documented? Inconsistent owner pay is the #1 red flag in a small-business P&L.

02

Customer concentration

If more than 30% of revenue comes from one customer, buyers discount the offer — or walk. Diversification protects your multiple.

03

Tax-return alignment

Your books and your tax returns must tell the same story. Discrepancies — even explainable ones — create doubt that kills deals.

04

Owner dependency

Can the business run for 30 days without you? If not, a buyer is buying themselves a job — and they'll price it that way.

05

Unexplained dips

Buyers expect imperfect performance. They don't expect no explanation. Every unusual month needs a written note in your books.

06

Add-back documentation

Every personal expense run through the business needs to be identified and documented before you go to market — not during diligence.

Numbers by C&O — Bookkeeping + Tax
What's an Enrolled Agent — and why does it matter?+
An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a tax practitioner federally licensed by the U.S. Treasury. Earning the credential requires passing a rigorous three-part federal exam covering individual taxation, business taxation, and representation, plus continuing education every year. For you it means I'm cleared to prepare returns in all 50 states and I actually know what I'm doing.
Do you do tax planning, audits, or IRS negotiation?+
No — and I'll tell you straight. I focus on bookkeeping, tax preparation, and sale prep. If you need proactive tax-strategy work, audit defense, or someone to negotiate an offer in compromise with the IRS, I'm not your person. Honesty about scope is part of how I run this practice — and I'm happy to refer you to someone great if those are what you need.
Do you work with clients outside Arizona?+
Absolutely. I prepare returns in all 50 states and work with clients nationwide via secure video calls, encrypted document sharing, and cloud-based bookkeeping software.
I'm behind on my books. Can you still help?+
Yes — and you're not alone. Catch-up bookkeeping is one of my most-requested services. We'll review what's there, fill in the gaps, and get you to a clean starting point before moving into ongoing service. No judgment, just progress.
What software do you use?+
QuickBooks Online for bookkeeping, professional tax software for returns, and a secure client portal for document exchange. If you're already on QuickBooks Online, transition is painless. If you're not, we'll get you set up.
Is the initial consultation really free?+
Really, truly free. Thirty minutes, no obligation, no high-pressure pitch. If we're a fit, great. If not, you'll leave with at least one useful piece of advice.
How much do you charge?+
Bookkeeping starts at $500/month for simple service-based businesses, and goes up from there based on volume and complexity. Tax preparation and sale-prep engagements are quoted individually. I'm not the cheapest option in town — I'm the one who actually shows up, year-round, and treats your books like they matter. We talk numbers on the consultation call so there are no surprises later.
What's MySaleReady — and how does it relate to your practice?+
MySaleReady is a separate brand I created for bookkeepers who want to add sale-prep work to their practices. It includes the Bookkeeper's Sale-Side Playbook and a Marketing Kit. If you're a bookkeeper, those products are for you. If you're a business owner — you don't need them. You just need someone (like me) who already knows how to use them.

Let's talk.

Whether you need monthly bookkeeping, a tax return, sale prep, or you're a bookkeeper curious about the toolkit — I'd love to hear from you. Free 30-minute consult, no pressure, no commitment.
